North Queensland Buffalo is also known as axonopus compressus. It is a broadleaf carpet grass popular in many homes across northern and western Queensland.
Nth Qld Buffalo has a dark green appearance and broad coarse leaf. A great tropical grass that is very well adapted to our climate and environment and is highly regarded here in North Queensland. It has excellent shade tolerance, requiring approximately 4hrs of filtered sunlight a day (similar to the amount of shade found under a large tree or the amount of shade in between a building and a fence 1 metre apart. Even after a couple of weeks of rain and excessive growth, broadleaf carpet grass can be mown easily and without scalping damage.
Please note: This is a budget variety of turf and not pure NQ Buffalo. It does contain Couch. It is a hardy tropical mix and the perfect solution for someone simply looking for green grass.
