The idea of blogging is completely foreign to me. Lachlan certainly had a cackle to himself when our splendid business mentor, Roxanne Grey suggested it to us. The idea of writing in this format AND, more importantly, that someone might read it - - - blows my mind. I am way beyond nervous. I’d probably put it up there with jumping out of plane, but hey, what is one more step? Here we go… A word I loathe is ‘journey’. It is not the word itself, it’s the excessive reality tv use these days. My ears hurt every time I hear it. For the life of me, I can’t find a better one to use, so walk on with me.
Since the introduction of water restrictions and declaration of drought here in Townsville in late 2015, Lachlan and I have spent a lot of time reflecting on our little family business and why it means everything to us. And when I say reflecting, in our twenty year history, we have never racked up so many hours in professional development, forums, workshops, meetings and networking events. Honestly, we have tarted ourselves out a lot! We have tried our upmost to make the most of idle time. Lachlan even finished his Diploma of Horticulture, if only I could find that to-do list from ten years ago to cross it off. There can be no doubt that in this last two years we have found ourselves out of our comfort zone more times than in it. Why? Because we believe in our product. It’s not just about Turf for us – it is the lifestyle it represents.
Turf has always had way more value than its colour. It is a living product that creates oxygen, reduces carbon, settles dust, prevents soil erosion, lowers the temperature, encourages physical activity and has a string of health benefits. It simply is everywhere and it has more purpose than most give it credit for. Front yards, back yards, school yards, playgrounds, sporting fields, parks, footpaths, green space, open space. As I draw our first blog to a close. A big shout out to our family and friends (you might be the only ones still reading!), THANK YOU for your patience, kindness and unwavering support. Please finish this little journey with us by having a sticky around our shiny new website. We hope in all of this you see the true reflection of us shining back at you. Now, I am about to dig around for that list from five years ago, absolutely ecstatic that we can finally cross off the World Wide Web. Take care, Sacha Comments are closed.
