Congratulations to The Lions Club of Townsville Central for organising a fantastic event in August 2017. An excellent excuse for gardeners to get together and share ideas, maybe pick up some tips and tricks, a few must-have plants or some nifty knick-knacks. Pardon the pun, but it is really growing each year.
The original idea was the brainchild of the late Trevor Gray and it was designed to meet local garden needs, promote Townsville and financially assist the wonderful community work of The Lions Club. And it does. We are grateful to Wes Ryman for picking up the Trevor’s baton and charging on this year through difficult times. As you can imagine, countless hours go into organising such an event and the fact it is all done by volunteers is a huge credit to their group. The location at Riverway under the magnificent raintrees is delightful.
Thank you to all the visitors for supporting the The Lions Club over the weekend and everyone who dropped by our stall to say hi.
The stars aligned perfectly for us with the launch of our website as it only went live the day before. We were keen to celebrate and spread the word.
We also want to give a shout out to John Gardiner, the man behind Kings Pride Soft Leaf Buffalo for coming up from Sydney to give us a hand. As you can imagine the advice from a Turf Grower with such vast experience is invaluable. This is his third visit to Townsville. As it happens, he and his beautiful wife, Susan have fallen in love with The Aquarius and The Strand and won’t stay anywhere else when they are in town.
We are keen for 2018, hope to see you there!
Congratulations to our Esky Winner ~ M. Muir.
